The formula is:

Followers ÷ Following = Follower-to-Following Ratio

How to Read the Result

A ratio above 1 means followers are higher than following. A ratio below 1 means the account follows more profiles than follow it. These labels are general descriptions created for this calculator—not an Instagram score or an industry standard. A high ratio does not prove that an account is authentic, influential, safe, or highly engaged. Content quality, audience relevance, account age, posting consistency, and real engagement all matter.

What Happens When Following Is Zero?

Division by zero does not produce a normal finite ratio. If an account has followers but follows no accounts, the calculator displays an infinity symbol and explains that no accounts are followed. If both totals are zero, the displayed ratio is zero.

Why the Ratio May Not Load

The username may be misspelled or recently changed, the account may be disabled, or Instagram may temporarily limit the public profile response. Private accounts can also return fewer public fields. Confirm that the original profile exists, retry the exact username, and check again later if the public totals are temporarily unavailable.
